Franklin Day Surgery for private specialist and surgical services
Due to open in 2024, Franklin Day Surgery will provide essential private specialist consultation, health services and day-stay surgery procedures for the rapidly growing population of Pukekohe and nearby areas.
It will have best-in-class facilities to support a wide range of patient needs. Premises for allied health providers will be constructed on the same site, to fulfil our ultimate vision of a comprehensive medical hub.
A Medical Pacific development
Conceived and designed by Medical Pacific, who have an impeccable track record with developing medical facilities, Franklin Day Surgery will occupy a large commercial site at 82 Manukau Road, Pukekohe. It will be complemented by a complex of tenanted premises to offer radiology, pathlab and rooms for GPs and allied health providers.
When the full vision has been realised, Pukekohe will have an all-in-one medical hub serving a catchment of 600,000+ people.
We’re currently seeking practitioners and investors for the day surgery component of the development. Plans include consultation rooms, operating theatres, recovery rooms, day-stay beds, an extensive reception area, and parking for staff and patients.
The grounds around the centre will be professionally landscaped to complement the architecture and Pukekohe’s rural town vibe.

Why does Pukekohe need this medical development?
As pressure increases in New Zealand's public health sector, the private health sector is increasingly stepping in to pick up the slack. Professor Robin Fault, director of University of Otago's Centre for Health Systems, recently said:
"I suspect there will be an increasing number of people seeking private treatment because of either the inability of the public sector to treat them, or concerns about the ability to be treated in the public sector."
Additionally, significant growth is anticipated in the Pukekohe region over the next 30 years. Approximately 1,700 hectares of land for future urban development has been identified around Pukekohe, including around 790 hectares in Paerata.
